Monthly Spotlight:
Meet Brian Wells: A Coach with a Unique Path to Success
Brian Wells' journey in the world of coaching is a testament to the power of dedication, perseverance, and the willingness to embrace growth through discomfort.
Starting his career as a Division III athlete at Grove City College, Brian's dedication and love for sports set him on a unique path.
Watch Brian speak more on his interesting perspective to growth:
From Athlete to Influential Coach:
Brian transitioned from a D3 athlete to becoming an assistant strength coach at the same college
His journey didn't stop there; he transitioned to a D2 school as a graduate assistant
He then took a step down as a lower-tier assistant role, showcasing that success is not always linear
Brian then secured an internship at The Ohio State University, a Power-5 conference school—eventually becoming a full-time assistant strength coach there
A Lesson in Growth and Resilience:
Brian's path shows that you don't always need to know your final destination or how you’ll get there
Following your passion will pay off, even if your path is different than most
-Brian persevered day in and day out to achieve his long-term goal of becoming a strength coach
His best life lesson has been growth
-As an intern, Brian coached athletes and improved by doing instead of watching
The Power of Being Uncomfortable:
Embracing discomfort was key to Brian's development. Through challenging internships and accepting constructive criticism, Brian grew as a person and not just as a coach
-Those who critique you often do so from a place of wanting to see us improve and succeed
Brian worked odd ends jobs at night, interned during the day, and balanced a long-distance relationship simultaneously
-He found a work-life balance by prioritizing which time he wanted to spend doing each
OnThree celebrates Brian Wells for his courage to be uncomfortable, his resilience in the face of challenges, and his dedication to growth. His story is a reminder that being comfortable with discomfort is essential for personal and professional development.
